WARNING: If you are easily frightened by gore or horror images or are sitting in your room alone and late at night, I recommend viewing these images at a better time or not at all.
I stumbled upon the stream of photographer Brooke Shaden today, and was immediately amazed. It’s hard to describe her style, but it’s very distinct. It’s a mixture of surrealism with some horror and gothic influences, using textures and dark tones to create very intense moods in every one of her images. Almost all of them are composite images, too, (that is, they are made up of many photographs pieced together) and it looks like she has perfected that craft too. And the most amazing thing? She’s only been doing it for a year.
Brooke is an inspiration to me. At my one year mark for photography (in July this year) I want to have found my niche and my own style as she has done.
I recommend that you visit her blog, too.
